ARTHEROSCLEROSIS
Atherosclerosis is the process that causes blockage overtime whereby hard cholesterol substances or plaques are deposited in the walls of the arteries. Many patients don’t know their arteries are gradually accumulating cholesterol plaques until the atherosclerosis becomes advanced causing critical narrowing of the arteries resulting in tissue destruction.
Atherosclerosis Risk Factors:
- Smoker or tobacco user
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Family history of cardiovascular or peripheral vascular disease (a narrowing of the blood vessels)
