Dr. Schmidt and Dr. John Harvey joined together and started private practice in November 1991, forming the Heart Group of Oklahoma which later evolved into OCA. Dr. Schmidt is a founding member of OCA and was a founding member of the Oklahoma Heart Hosptial Board of Managers. He is a clinical associate professor at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Schmidt is particularly interested in new device technologies and using these devices to treat Coronary Artery Disease (CAD), as well as medical information systems used for advancing the safety and efficiency of care for heart patients. As a founder and clinical investigator with Oklahoma Foundation for Cardiovascular Research, he has also investigated new technologies such as laser Percutaneous Transmyocardial Revascularization (PTMR) for difficult Coronary Artery Disease, new stent devices for vascular disease, as well as new therapies to prevent restenosis.
Dr. Schmidt was listed in the Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities for 1979. He graduated Summa cum laude in 1979 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He received the W.W. Rucks Fellowship in Internal Medicine 1986. |
